Here’s The Lumberjack Story of winning a competition between a young lumberjack and an old lumberjack but the old lumberjack wins.
Once upon a time, it was an annual lumberjack competition.
The final was between the old experienced lumberjack and a younger, stronger lumberjack.
The rule of the competition was quite simple.
Whoever fell more trees in a day will win.
The younger lumberjack was full of enthusiasm as he saw his competitor a weak old lumberjack.
They both went to the forest and started to cut down trees.
Both of them worked the whole day and the whole night.
As the younger lumberjack worked he could hear the old lumberjack working at the other end of the forest.
The younger lumberjack fell more and more confident with every tree he felt.
During the day the noise of falling trees from the other side of the forest would stop for hours.
The younger lumberjack felt good because the older lumberjack would take a rest at every hour of work and the younger lumberjack used his strength and stamina to keep going.
At the end of the day, the younger lumberjack left confident he had won.
He looked at the pile of trees that would result in his win.
He confidently stood at the podium as he was expecting to call the winner.
The older lumberjack stood beside the younger lumberjack without any expression on his face.
When the results were out he heard that the older lumberjack was awarded the winner as he chopped down more trees than the younger lumberjack.
He turned to the old lumberjack and asked, “How is it possible that you chopped more trees than me as you rested every hour?”
The older lumberjack replied, “Every hour I took a rest to sharpen my saw.”
